Looking Through the Window
The wind window is the semi-spherical space
downwind and in front of you as you fly your kite. When you take off downwind
and straight up, you are passing through the portion of the window where the
kite reaches maximum power. You can end up with your face in the dirt if you are
not careful.
In strong winds, taking off in the corner of the window will save you some
grief. If you find yourself overpowered, landing at the edge of the window with
the kite held into the wind and perpendicular to the ground is a safe way out of
the predicament. This is the normal way to land a 2-line kite.
